Pastor Emeritus Cecil & Pauline Wiggins

Cecil_Canvas_Portrait_5_x_7Pastor Cecil Wiggins was born on August 24, 1930 in Evergreen, Alabama. He attended public schools in Evergreen and graduated from Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama in 1949 and then attended Southwestern Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie, Texas. Following college and his early ministry as an Evangelist, Pastor Wiggins founded a church congregation in 1953 in Demopolis, Alabama. He served as Pastor for six years. In 1959, Pastor Wiggins and his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee where he served as Pastor of Rugby Park Assembly of God Church. Pastor Wiggins, in 1964, was invited to interview for the Senior Pastor position at Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville, Florida. He was elected as Pastor on October 4, 1964 and has continued his Pastoral Stewardship of Evangel Temple for forty-five years. Under his ministry at Evangel Temple, he initiated and supervised numerous building programs including that of the current 3,200 seat sanctuary. Two satellite congregations meet in St. Marys, Georgia and Middleburg, Florida.

Pastor Cecil Wiggins has been influential in the community through active participation and support of many community wide programs in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. Pastor Wiggins has served as Presbyter and Sectional Officer for twenty-five years in the Peninsular Florida District Council of the Assemblies of God. Pastor Wiggins has  had a radio program since 1977. Additionally, he was the host of a weekly television program that has been aired since 1972. As the Senior Pastor of Evangel Temple, he serves a congregation of 2,500 members, and supervises a staff of 30 full-time and part-time employees. Pastor Cecil Wiggins has been married for 57 years to Pauline Green Wiggins. They have two children, Reverend Garry Wiggins and Kay Kisser, five grandchildren, three great grandsons and three great granddaughters.
